BMW of North America is planning to bring back BMW Films, the online movie series that produced The Hire from 2001-2002.

The Hire starred actor Clive Owen and was produced by A-List Hollywood directors such as Ang Lee, John Woo, Guy Ritchie and the late John Frankenheimer. Joining Owen on the cast were other famous actors including Gary Oldman, Don Cheadle, Mickey Rourke and Madonna.

Running eight to 10 minutes each, the mini movies from BMW Films featured Owen driving various BMW models and was, for the most part, ahead of its time. Most recently, BMW’s new VP of marketing, Trudy Hardy, said at the 2014 Automotive News World Congress that the German automaker plans to bring back BMW Films.

Given how popular Internet video content has become in the last decade, BMW Films would certainly be a huge hit today.
