Toyota Recalling 261K Vehicles Over Brake System Issue

Toyota has announced a new recall that involves 261,114 Lexus and Toyota vehicles over problems with various braking safety systems that can become inoperative.

The specific problem is an electrical component in the brake actuator that may experience increased resistance, causing certain safety systems, such as stability control and anti-lock brakes to become inactive.

All of the vehicles affected are from the 2012-2013 model year, and include the Lexus RX350 crossover the Toyota Tacoma pickup and the Toyota RAV4 small crossover.

Toyota and Lexus dealers will update the necessary software to fix the issue free of charge.
