A Hyundai Genesis-based SUV is a possibility, according to a European executive for the Korean automaker.

Speaking at the 2014 Geneva Motor Show, Allan Rushforth, senior vice president and chief operating officer of Hyundai Motor Europe, suggested that the next logical step for the Genesis family would be a luxury-focused SUV. Recently, Hyundai unveiled the new 2015 Genesis sedan and it appears that it has high hopes for the nameplate.

The Genesis family also consists of a sporty coupe model so it would be a natural expansion for the line to add a crossover or SUV model. Hyundai has enjoyed relative success with its Tucson and Santa Fe offerings, so a more upscale and luxurious addition to the lineup could benefit the brand’s image overall.

At the 2014 Geneva Motor Show, Hyundai showed off an Intrado concept, which offers hints at which direction Hyundai would like to go with a luxury SUV model.
