Bentley is known for opulent luxury, but with the brand returning to the race track this year, some of that go-fast attitude is set to transfer into its road cars.

A modified Bentley Continental GT has been caught by our spy photographers testing as the Nürburgring, revealing Bentley’s plan for an even hotter version of the Continental.

Speaking to AutoGuide at last year’s LA Auto Show, Bentley Marketing boss Kevin Rose all but confirmed that the brand will introduce a street-legal version of its GT3 race car. “It would be the logical thing to do,” said Rose. “I almost expect it.”

The car in the spy photos is fitted with a lower spoiler lip long with a fixed rear wing. It also appears to be lower than the standard car, all of which are traits of the GT3 race car.

Which engine will power the car still isn’t clear. Bentley has choice between its twin-turbo V8 that makes about 521 hp, or the brand’s staple engine, a 6.0-liter W12. Rose argues that W12 is the more logical choice, as it already powers the Supersport model.

On the other hand the turbocharged V8 could be massaged to make somewhere between 550 and 600 hp.
