Taggart Autosport is looking to surprise the competition this weekend at Virginia International Raceway.

Drivers Jim Taggart and Tom Long will be piloting the Local Motors Rally Fighter-branded Maserati GranTurismo MC at the Maserati Trofeo 2014 Championship at VIR. Both of these drivers have driven thousands of laps around the track, an added advantage in a field full of international competitors. Taggart Autosport is making a one-off appearance in the series, coming off a twin podium in the Pirelli World Challenge at Mid-Ohio.

The event will mark the first time Taggart is fielding a vehicle that’s primarily sponsored by Local Motors which is a platform that empowers anyone to design, build and sell the world’s coolest machines.

“No doubt, this will be an incredible event,” said Taggart. “Almost all of the competitors in this series are from Europe, and top notch professional racers. However, with VIR being our home track I would expect our team to have the advantage. Clearly, with Tom Long at the wheel, at VIR, those others guys have a lot of learning to do to keep up with him.”
