The BMW M2 is on its way, as testing on the Nürburgring has begun.

The German automaker has brought the first M2 prototype with actual production bodywork to do some tests on the ‘Ring. Despite some camouflage, it’s easy to see the 2016 BMW M2’s more aggressive styling in addition to its quad-tip exhaust setup, larger brakes and wheels borrowed from the M3 and M4.

The BMW M2 is expected to be powered by the brand’s N55 engine, which is a 3.0-liter turbocharged inline-six cylinder with around 360 to 380 hp for the M2. Production on the 2016 BMW M2 is likely to begin in the fall of 2015.
