The Maybach nameplate will make its return in Los Angeles this year.

The Mercedes Maybach will make its debut at this year’s LA Auto Show, based on the German automaker’s S-Class sedan. According to a recent report from Car and Driver, the Maybach will be roughly 18 feet long, landing it between the S550 and the previous Maybach 57. The model will “look very much like an S-Class,” according to Gordon Wagener, Mercedes-Benz’s head of global design. Under the hood will be a turbocharged V12 engine and will likely be rear-wheel drive with the S-Class’s Magic Body Control suspension.

Wagener also called the Mercedes Maybach as automotive “haute couture” and confirmed that the Maybach nameplate will act as a sub-brand for Mercedes-Benz just like Mercedes- AMG. Also, don’t be surprised to see a Maybach variant of the S-Class coupe in the future.

Would be interesting of how the Maybach package would be differentiated from the S65/S600.
