Sebastian Vettel Leaving Infiniti Red Bull Racing

Infiniti Red Bull Racing is losing its star driver.

The 27-year-old Formula One champion has released a statement saying, “Sebastian Vettel has advised us that he will be leaving Infiniti Red Bull Racing at the end of the 2014 season.” Vettel is currently fifth in this season’s points standing, 117 points behind leader Lewis Hamilton and 57 points behind teammate Daniel Ricciardo.

As a response, Red Bull Racing has announced that Vettel’s spot on the team will be taken by Daniil Kvyat who is currently part of Red Bull Racing’s junior team Toro Rosso. Vettel originally joined the team in 2009 and has captured 38 wins, 44 poles and eight world championships including four drivers’ titles and four constructors.

“We want to warmly thank Sebastian for the incredible role he has played at Infiniti Red Bull Racing for the last six years,” Infiniti Red Bull Racing said in a statement.
