Audi Releases New Infotainment Platform
Audi rolled out a new infotainment platform at the connected car expo on the eve of the 2014 LA Auto Show.
The modular infotainment platform, or MIB-2 as Audi calls it, will enable the introduction of new and more powerful processors in a much shorter amount of time. The system is powered by a NVIDIA Tegra 30 driven by a quad-core processor which will allow owners to easily upgrade their software for improved functions when it comes to connectivity, media, voice command and navigation.
Tesla already uses a method similar to this which allows the company to release updates when new programs become available that customers can download straight to their cars.

Thanks to the new system offering double the processor performance, Audi’s infotainment now incorporates a virtual 3D platform and a redesigned user interface. Audi is also showing off the new fully digital dash display in the 2016 TT.
The MIB-2 system will first be implemented in the 2016 A6 and A7, both of which are making their North American debut at the LA Auto Show this week.
