Lower gas prices are spurring Americans to take more road trips this year.

According to a recent study by AAA, 60 percent of Americans are more likely to take a road trip of 50 miles or more if gas prices stay steady in 2015. The study also revealed that drivers age 18-34 are more likely (68 percent) to go on a road trip this year compared to Americans older than 35 (57 percent). AAA’s research also corroborates other studies that show Americans are driving more thanks to lower gas prices with 19 percent of Americans age 18-34 reporting that they drive more and 10 percent of Americans 35 and older saying the same.

Interestingly, 39 percent of Americans believe gas is still too high at $2.50 per gallon while 17 percent of Americans say gas is cheap at $2.50 per gallon. Current national average price of gasoline is about $2.58 per gallon. In order for more than half of Americans (58 percent) to believe gas is cheap, the national average would be to be $1.50 per gallon while 99 percent of Americans would say gas is cheap at $1.00 per gallon.

The study surveyed a total of 1,007 adults, 504 men and 503 women, living in the continental U.S.

I want to take a road trip this year! Maybe somewhere out west, Monument Valley, The Grand Canyon or even Yellowstone ...

You and me both. The thirst for adventure calls me daily, like a telemarketer. "Hi there Sami, you've been randomly selected to GTFO and do something crazy. Press 1 to get in your car and leave now!" But I usually hang up after "...you've been randomly selected..." and miss the rest of the message.
