The company began taking orders today via a we site that directs customers to dealers with available cars. Mazda is only offer 1,000 copies of the launch edition and all it takes is a $500 deposit to put your name on one. The Launch Edition MX-5 are all Grand Touring models and come with Soul Red paint and Sport Tan leather upholstery. They ride on 17-inch alloy wheels, come with heated seats, navigation, a Bose stereo and automatic climate control. Safety equipment includes blind spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert and a lane departure warning system.

Unlike the NC generation, Mazda is restricting the most performance-oriented components in its lineup to the Club edition. Previously, lower trim levels of the MX-5 were available with a limited-slip differential, but starting with the 2016 model year that equipment will be exclusive to the Club model. Other upgrades for the MX-5 club include Bilstein shocks and a front splitter with the option to add matching side skirts.
