An automaker from Taiwan is looking to compete with Tesla by releasing an electric vehicle sporting a 373-mile range, more than the America automaker’s 265-mile range.

The newly born Thunder Power will debut a concept version of its electric vehicle at the 2015 Frankfurt Motor Show next week with the company claiming it will have 430 hp and a zero to 62 mph time of under five seconds while achieving a top speed of 155 mph. For the car’s styling, Thunder Power promises “European engineering” with “Italian design” and has hired former Lotus and Bugatti technician Dr. Peter Tutzer to oversee the development of the car. Taking on the role of the company’s chief production officer is Franz Schulte, who previously worked at Porsche and Ford.

Currently, Thunder Power is testing the vehicle in Milan and is hoping for a 2017 launch in Europe. But first, the Thunder Power EV will be available in China with a price of around 400,000 yuan ($62,730).

Based on the teaser image, it appears that the Thunder Power EV is heavily inspired by European styling and has a bit of a Tesla Model S look. Check back with AutoGuide.com next week as we’ll be sure to check out the new car up close and personal in Frankfurt.
