2017 Audi A5 Convertible Spied Testing for the First Time
The 2017 Audi A5 convertible has been caught on camera by spy photographers for the first time.
The next-generation Audi A5 will ride on the German automaker’s MLB Evo platform that uses ultra high-strength steel, aluminum and some composite material to shave weight. Like the new Audi A4, the company expects to lighten the A5 by 200 to 250 pounds compared to the current model. The first model to be built on the MLB Evo platform was the 2015 Audi Q7 followed by the new A4. Expect a wide range of standard gasoline and diesel engines to be offered on the new A5 worldwide.

Most definitely in the works is a high-performance S5 convertible model as well as a hardcore RS5 convertible. In Europe, Audi will offer the A5 Sportback to give the lineup three body styles along with the coupe. Production for the 2017 Audi A5 convertible will likely start late next year or early 2017.
AutoGuide.com‘s spy photographers also included interior photos of the Audi A5 coupe, which will likely closely resemble the convertible’s interior.
