Top 10 Cars That Get the Fewest Traffic Tickets

A recent study has revealed which cars get ticketed the least, and some of the results are surprising.

Insurance.com analyzed online quote information submitted by 323,349 drivers between January 1, 2014 and February 1, 2016 to see which vehicles get the most and least tickets.

Of course, it’s the driver that gets the ticket, not the car. It is however, interesting to see which vehicles are least prone to getting pulled over.

10. Land Rover Range Rover

Owning a Land Rover Range Rover likely means you’re busy shuttling around a family. The luxury SUV is likely not something you will speed around in and the survey represents that with 10.9 percent of survey respondents getting pulled over and cited.

9. BMW 320i

BMW 320i owners tend to stay out of trouble with 9.9 percent of survey respondents getting tickets, but that’s not the case for other 3 Series owners. According to data on Insurance.com, 19.3 percent of 325 owners have tickets, while 328s owners are also getting pulled over more frequently at 19.7 percent.

8. Audi A3

The entry-level Audi A3 model doesn’t seem to attract speeders, with 9.2 percent of its owners having tickets. Things get more interesting, however, when you look at the Audi A4, which reports 23.1 percent. That’s higher than the average for all cars, which is 21.1 percent.

7. GMC Savana

Some would say it would even be hard to speed in a GMC Savana. Only 8.8 percent of owners have gotten tickets while driving the cargo/passenger van.

6. Cadillac Escalade

There was a time when the Cadillac Escalade was reserved for the rich and famous. But now the luxury SUV is a staple in the American automaker’s lineup and it’s attracting drivers that tend to stay out of trouble with only 8.1 percent of owners having tickets.

5. Chevrolet Express

Like the GMC Savana, a low percentage of Chevrolet Express owners have tickets – 7.7 percent, in fact. Both cargo/passengers vans are probably the least surprising to show up on the list.

4. Cadillac ATS

The Cadillac ATS joins the Escalade on the list, with only 6.2 percent of its owners having reported having tickets. Cadillac CTS owners, on the other hand, tally in at 17.1 percent. Unfortunately, Insurance.com doesn’t have data to break down between the standard ATS and the ATS-V, since it would be interesting to see what that extra power does for a driver when it comes to obeying the law.

3. Acura ILX

The Acura ILX might not be the success the Japanese automaker hoped, but at least its owners are staying out of trouble. Of those surveyed, 5.6 percent reported having tickets while owning an Acura ILX.

2. Lexus IS350

The popular Lexus IS350 sees only 3.4 percent of its owners with tickets. Interestingly enough, the IS250 with less performance gets more people in trouble with 21.6 percent of IS250 owners with tickets.

1. Buick Encore

And the least ticketed car according to the survey? The Buick Encore crossover, with 3.2 percent of its owners having gotten tickets while behind the wheel.

Tremendous insight here: Cars driven by the most timid and conservative and old get the fewest tix. Who woulda thunk it!?

I don't know. Living in Florida, I've never seen a Cadillac Escalade not driven idiotically.

This article cannot be legitimate or Jeep Wrangler would have been in the number one spot.
