BMW's New Porsche Fighter Spied Testing for the First Time

Spy photographers have caught the next-generation BMW 6 Series testing.

Earlier reports said that BMW intends to change the 6 Series to become a Porsche 911 fighter, although these spy photos make us question those rumors. It appears that the luxury sports coupe isn’t changing a whole lot, resembling the current model and serving as a sporty GT car. But still, it does look slightly smaller and appears to have a more sloping roofline, even if the camouflage is trying to conceal it.

Up front, the sleek headlights and wider grille gives the 6 Series a wider and sportier stance. Not much is known about the new BMW 6 Series, but expect it to shed weight like other recent BMW models that have been overhauled. Engines will likely mirror those found in the 5 Series and a convertible variant should be added to the lineup six months after the coupe is revealed. It’s still unclear if the BMW 6 Series Gran Coupe is going to live on, as rumors say the 5 Series Gran Turismo will replace the 6 Series Gran Coupe. There’s also the consideration that BMW is working on a bigger 8 Series coupe model.
