BMW’s latest upcoming crossover has revealed more of its front end.

Expected to bow at the 2017 Frankfurt Motor Show this September, the BMW X2 is following in the 2 Series’ footsteps with more aggressive styling. The front bumper on the prototype caught on camera by spy photographers features large air intakes, similar to what’s found on the concept’s front bumper. The sporty roofline remains intact, although it’s not as sharply raked as the concept. The upcoming BMW X2 ushers in a new styling language for BMW, and you can see the new interpretation of the iconic kidney grilles on this prototype.

When it finally launches in the U.S., expect similar powertrains as what’s found in the X1. That likely means three models at launch: the sDrive28i, xDrive28i, and xDrive M35i. Expect to see diesel engines available in Europe.

The BMW X2 Concept made its debut last year at the Paris Motor Show and the German automaker has been actively spotted testing it since. Expect more details to be announced in the coming months.
