Ford is hoping to inject some excitement into the Edge crossover with a new ST variant.

Unveiled at the 2018 Detroit Auto Show, the 2019 Ford Edge gets updated with a new, more stylish front end with a bold grille. The American automaker also pulled the hood’s leading edge forward, giving it a more aggressive appearance. On the rear, the liftgate, bumper, and exhaust finishers have also been reworked.

But the more exciting debut for the Edge lineup is the new ST version, Ford Performance’s first crossover. Under the hood is a 2.7-liter twin-turbo EcoBoost V6 engine providing 335 horsepower and 380 pound-feet of torque. The powerplant is paired to an eight-speed gearbox and all-wheel drive is standard on the ST.

It’s not just more performance in the engine bay motivating the ST, Ford Performance engineers also reworked the suspension by giving the model more aggressive dampers and stiffer springs, while stopping performance has been bolstered by larger brakes. In other words, the Edge ST aims to be a complete package with improved handling, braking, acceleration, and an even more aggressive exhaust note.

Look for the 2019 Ford Edge to go on sale this summer, with pricing announced closer to its launch.
