2024 Ford F-150 Raptor R Bumps Power to TRX-Besting 720 HP

The Blue Oval's latest is now the most powerful gas-powered truck.

Ford on Wednesday gave the world the first official look at the 2024 F-150 Raptor R. Yes, the V8-powered dune-blaster is back again as part of the refreshed 2024 F-150 lineup—and this time, it's gone for the crown.

When the 700-horsepower R debuted a few years ago, it came up just two ponies shy of cross-town rival Ram's bonkers 1500 TRX. Not that anybody would notice the difference in day-to-day living: it's about bragging rights. Thus, the 2024 model sees a more efficient air intake system and engine re-calibation. The latter gives this top Raptor a wider torque curve too, even if it keeps the same 640 pound-foot peak of its predecessor.

A fun, Ford-provided point of reference: the original Raptor of 2008 debuted with less than half the power (310 hp) out of its 5.4-liter V8. Inflation isn't all bad!

While Ford didn't expand on any other aspects of the 2024 F-150 Raptor R, it feels safe to assume it will benefit from the upgrades to the regular Raptor, including the Fox Dual Live Valve shocks. We expect to hear more in the new year.
