According to German Alfa Romeo tuning outfit Pogea Racing, Alfa Romeo is set to introduce a new 6C sports car in 2020.

The Alfa Romeo 6C will slot above the 4C in the automaker’s lineup, serving as its new halo model. Under the hood will be the 503 hp 2.9-liter twin-turbo V6 found in the Giulia Quadrifoglio, and electrification could also be on the table. With Alfa entering Formula 1 with Sauber this year, it’s easy to see why the Italian automaker would want such a car in its portfolio.

Pogea says its intel on the 6C comes via a very reliable albeit anonymous source. The car will be shown at an auto show sometime later this year or next year, the company says, before entering production in 2020. It’s likely the 6C will be sold alongside the 4C, with rumors swirling that Alfa is set to give its four-cylinder sports car a mid-cycle update sometime in the near future.

Fiat Chrysler CEO Sergio Marchionne also expressed interest in an Alfa Romeo IndyCar program recently – further indication that Alfa is serious about performance and looking to offer track ready, motorsport-inspired products.

Isn't that above photo of a blue Giulia? Wouldn't it make sense to have a 4C there?

Yes, I drove it. Twice. It just isn't torquey enough for me. Not even close to my 335i. I've always wanted an Alfa and just think they're very cool cars. But, not sure I can talk myself into the 265HP Guilia (sorry, I don't remember if it's 265 or 275.) I love the rest of the car.

The 6C has been a long time coming. I hope it is 2+2 as that is certainly a configuration needed in the Alfa portfolio
