2019 Toyota Auris Signals New Corolla for US
Making its debut at the Geneva Motor Show is the all-new third generation Toyota Auris hatchback, the European version of the 2019 Toyota Corolla (Corolla iM) hatchback.
Top-line specs include a 2.0-liter hybrid and the choice of three powertrains, a 1.2-liter turbocharged gas motor, a 1.8-liter 90 kW motor for a combined 122 horsepower and a 2.0-liter, 132 kW motor contributing to 180 horsepower.
Built for the European market, it will not offer a diesel version.
On the design side, the Auris offers traditional hatchback dimensions, with a duo-color tone between roof and body, a near-parallel slant of its windshield and front hood, L-shaped LED headlights and a trapezoid-shaped front-end grille. On the side, its body line also arches higher towards the rear. Its overall design is a clear nod to European styling.

The Auris will also feature Toyota’s New Global Architecture (TNGA) platform, a modular platform and revised manufacturing process used by different models such as the Prius, Camry, and C-HR, enabling a lower center of gravity (lower body stance), and higher strength steel. It will be built at a plant in Derbyshire, UK.
No word yet if Toyota plans to introduce the new Corolla hatchback to the U.S. under the Corolla iM brand.
