The Lamborghini Aventador SV Jota Looks Comically Fast

Spy photos and information on the new Lamborghini Aventador SV Jota surfaced this week, and now the car has been caught on video lapping the Nurburgring.

The Aventador SV Jota is believed to be the ultimate expression of the Aventador and will likely be the last variant of the mid-engine V12 supercar to arrive. The 6.5-liter V12 engine’s output will rise to nearly 800 hp, but this package has much more to offer apart from big power. It will also get some wild aerodynamics, which will include an aggressive front splitter, massive rear diffuser and hysterically large rear wing, and should be much lighter than a standard Aventador. Don’t be surprised if a more powerful brake package and extra sticky tires are on offer as well, along with Lamborghini’s new rear-wheel steering system.

A prototype for this new Aventador SV Jota looks comically fast in a video filmed by sharp-eyed Nurburgring spy/YouTuber Automotive Mike. The video starts with an up-close shot of the Jota traveling slowly as it lets a BMW 5-Series by, but the subsequent clips show it absolutely ripping around the 12.9 mile circuit as its tires squeal in pain. If the Lamborghini Huracan Performante lapped the ‘Ring in 6:57, then the Jota will easily crack the 6 minute and 50 second barrier.

We get the feeling Lamborghini has the Porsche 911 GT2 RS’ 6:47 lap in its crosshairs with this wild new Aventador model, so it will be interesting to see if it can beat its inter-family rivals for Nurburgring Supremacy. For now, you can watch it put in some test laps in the video embedded above.
