2018 Ford EcoSport Recalled for Incorrect Brake Fluid Cap

The 2018 Ford EcoSport has been recalled in the United States for two very minor issues.

Roughly 273 examples of the 2018 EcoSport were fitted with European brake fluid reservoir caps instead of US caps. Additionally, these US-bound EcoSports also received Euro-spec owners manuals instead of US manuals. Both the reservoir cap and owners manuals must be US versions, as required by federal motor vehicle safety standards.

Not surprisingly, Ford says it is not aware of any accidents or injuries associated with this issue.

The affected vehicles include 2018 Ford EcoSports built at Ford’s Chennai Assembly Plant between October 27th, 2017 and March 6th, 2018.

Ford dealers will replace the brake fluid reservoir cap and owners’ manual kit with the proper US versions free of charge.

At the same time, Ford issued a recall for 151 examples of the 2018 F-650 and F-750 trucks with hydraulic brake systems. The automaker says affected vehicles may have a faulty parking brake cable that may pose a rollaway risk. No injuries or deaths have been linked to the issue. Ford dealers will inspect and adjust the parking brake as needed at no cost to the customer.

Concerned parties may contact Ford’s Customer Relationship Centre at 1-800-565-3673 in regards to both recalls.
