The 2020 GMC Sierra Denali 2500 HD has been spied testing for the first time.

This prototype has plenty of camouflage on, but it’s still clear that the new 2500 HD series of GMC trucks will be heavily inspired by the 2019 Sierra 1500. It will feature the same large chrome grille, and as such, we’re expecting similar bodylines and a near identical rear fascia.

According to our spy photographers on the ground, this test model is also a diesel equipped with General Motors’ 6.6-liter V8. The 6.0-liter gasoline V8 should join the diesel as the entry-level engine option. It’s not yet clear if GM will throw an updated transmission in the new Sierra HD, but we’re expecting its venerable six-speed automatic to make a return.

We should see the 2020 GMC Sierra Denali 2500 HD go on sale sometime in early 2019.
