2019 Volvo S60 Polestar Sells Out in 39 Minutes

Volvo just sold out the new Polestar S60 in less time than that big concert you couldn’t get tickets to.

Faster than the last shipment of the must-have Christmas toy. Even more impressively, they did it using their new Care by Volvo app. But it’s not quite as big of an accomplishment as it might look.

Sure the 415 hp and 494 lb-ft of torque from the plug-in hybrid drivetrain are impressive. And the Ohlins suspension and Polestar enhancements are probably going to make this one of the sharpest sedans in the segment. The 2019 S60 T8 Polestar Engineered looks impressive on paper, but that’s not why it sold out so fast.

It sold out so fast because the new US-built car was limited to just 20 copies. For all 50 United States. Just 20 Polestars. And that makes us sad. But the lucky subscribers who got them did it by putting down a $500 deposit in the Care by Volvo app. They’ll get the car with payment, insurance, and maintenance starting from $1,100 per month for 24 months. After a year they can upgrade, but they probably won’t want to.

To try and make it up to the buyers who couldn’t snatch the Polestar S60, Volvo is offering Polestar Engine Software Optimization to the next 200 Care by Volvo subscribers to order a T6 AWD R-Design, first come, first served.
