The 2020 Mercedes-Benz GLE Coupe has been spied testing and not surprisingly, it retains its potato-like silhouette.

The round and bulbous look is one of the only things that will carry over from the old GLE Coupe to the new model, with this new model set to move to Mercedes’ newer MRA rear-wheel drive architecture.

With the updated platform will come a new range of engines – potentially from Mercedes’ inline-six engine family. As for the AMG version, it’s almost certain that a GLE 63 AMG variant will arrive with the automaker’s twin-turbo 4.0-liter V8. We’re expecting to see Mercedes’ 9G Tronic nine-speed automatic employed in all models.

Previous spy photos of the next-generation GLE revealed a redesigned interior with Mercedes’ familiar widescreen display running its new MBUX operating system. The GLE and GLE Coupe should feature an identical interior save for the rear seats and cargo area, where the coupe will obviously have less space.

The new Mercedes GLE Coupe is expected to arrive sometime in 2019, likely as a 2020 model year vehicle.
