How To Get This 85-Piece Craftsman Tool Set (Basically) For Free

Possibly the strangest promo we’ve seen in a while, valid only through October 6th, Sears.com is practically giving away this massive tool set, though it’s not quite as clean-cut as that.

UPDATE: Sale has now shifted to 50% off, with cashback in two instalments.

The big-box retailer is giving shoppers $75 in cashback points with purchases of at least $75 on selected items, split into three monthly instalments. This means if you buy this 85-piece tool set, you’ll get $25 back in points after purchase, and the next two instalments on October 20th and November 20th. There is one catch though, each points instalment is only valid for 14 days, so you can’t stack them up and buy something again for $75.

Mechanics and hobbyists in rust country will definitely appreciate this massive kit, which comes with a broad range of both metric and standard sockets. Rather than a conventional socket set, these “universal” sockets are designed to take a firm grip on rounded bolt heads and nuts, whether they’re hexagonal, Torx, squared, or spline drive. The fact that the kit is marked down from $139.99 to a modest $75.00 makes this buy that much more of a no-brainer in our books.
