Porsche Taycan owners will receive three years of free charging at Electrify America charging stations, the German automaker has announced.

Buyers of all versions of the fully electric Taycan sedan, Porsche’s first-ever mass-market EV, will receive three years of 30-minute charging at Electrify America charge points. Porsche says Electrify America charge stations will support DC fast charging at rates of up to 350 kWh.

Electrify America charging stations are being constructed along highways and in metro centers nationwide. The grid will eventually consist of 484 different charging locations and 2,000 individual charge stations, and that’s just the first phase. More charge points will be set up in phase two, construction of which is set to begin this July.

Additionally, all 191 Porsche dealerships in the U.S. will install DC fast charging stations, with more than 120 of them featuring Porsche Turbo Charging, which is the automaker’s own DC fast-charging system.

Thanks to an 800V electrical architecture, the Taycan will be able to charge at a rate of around 60 miles every four minutes using a combined charging system (CCS) plug, Porsche says. Taycan owners will also be provided with a solution for charging their vehicles at home, although the automaker has not yet provided details on its home charging system.

“Every Porsche is a sports car with soul, and the Taycan is soul electrified,” said Porsche North America CEO Klaus Zellmer. “Together, Electrify America and our Porsche dealer network will provide a national infrastructure for DC fast charging that frees future Taycan owners from range anxiety. And Porsche home charging technology will turn the customer’s garage into the equivalent of a personal gas station.”

Porsche says its home charging station combined with the Electrify America grid and Porsche dealership grid “will make up a comprehensive power network for the Taycan when it launches late this year.”

The Taycan is expected to have a pure electric driving range of around 310 miles. The fastest version, expected to be called the Taycan Turbo, should make more than 600 hp from its two electric motors and accelerate from 0-60 mph in as little as 3.5s.
