Best Nissan 350Z Coilovers

When the Nissan 350Z first hit the market, it quickly became a popular option among car enthusiasts and tuners worldwide. That meant plenty of parts from the aftermarket as customized 350Z sports cars filled the halls of car shows and drift events nationwide. Nowadays, the Nissan 350Z is an affordable option on the used car market, and if you’ve recently acquired one as a project or a weekend fun car, you’re likely looking for some parts. One of the biggest upgrades you can make to your Nissan 350Z is a proper set of coilovers, but picking the right one is no easy task.

The Best Nissan 350Z Exhausts

For decades, Nissan has had a strong reputation in the tuner community, from the mythical Skylines of Japan (before the GT-R arrived) to the overwhelming popularity of the S13 and S14 240SXs among drifters. When the fifth-generation Z hit the market as the 350Z in late 2002, it quickly became one of the most popular tuner cars of its generation. Drag racers, drifters, and show car enthusiasts filled every sport compact event with rows and rows of modified 350Zs, which means nearly every aftermarket company was churning out products for the sports car.

Nissan 350Zs Collide in Dramatic Highway Crash [Video]

Out in Charlotte NC, some automotive enthusiasts were gathering for the Wrong Fitment Crew Meet 3 that also celebrated Lunar New Year at the same time. Unfortunately the owners of these Nissan 350Zs are clearly not looking forward to The Year of the Dragon, as bad luck struck right as the New Year was around the corner.

Fortunately the collision caused no major injuries, but its cause is a bit of a freak accident. A caravan of vehicles were heading to the meet, and this Infiniti G35 had a camera on its dash filming the drive. Both 350Zs were traveling the speed limit when the black Vortech-supercharged 350Z tapped the gas and a brand new tire on the car broke loose. Combine that with the wet roads and the car went straight left, veering into the poor innocent silver Z.

Check out a video of the wreck after the break.

TheDRIVER Trailer Re-Released With Additional Footage [Video]

Who says cartoons are just for kids? TheDRIVER, an animated series focusing on fast cars and swift justice, is anything but childish.

It features cell shaded computer animation similar to what you might associate with the Gorillaz. TheDRIVER is a story centering around a mystery man in a Nissan GT-R who roams the streets of Los Angeles stopping street racers, drunk drivers and other “unsavory” characters. His sidekick, a caped kid with a cartoonishly big camera takes photos of his vigilanteism from surrounding rooftops.

Series creator Chris Hung cleaned up his trailer and added more footage to re-release it. In the video we see a Nissan 350Z escape a police chase, only to be run off the road by the protagonist’s GT-R.

The show is jam-packed with brand sponsoring, which is fine because it adds an aire of authenticity. The show does a fantastic job of capturing what it’s really like to be inside a 350Z as well, which is refreshing. If there’s one thing modern car chases get wrong, it’s the little details. The stunt driving is exaggerated, but that’s forgivable in a cartoon that clearly cares to go the extra mile for things like believable shift noises and throws.

Hung hopes the show will promote safe driving and show people about car culture and racing while exposing the dangers without seeming preachy.

Its not clear when or where we can look forward to the first full episode, considering the first footage came out in April 2010, but we’re eager to see more as it comes out. You can watch the trailer below.

Nick Hogan Back to Drifting; Say What?

Earlier this month we reported about Samuel Hubinette’s plans for 2010. What some may not remember is that merely three years ago, celebrity and son of Hulk Hogan, Nick Hogan, was actually competitively drifting alongside Samuel in a Dodge Viper SRT-10. Clearly the fame that came with Nick Hogan and fast cars wasn’t from his short drifting career. Instead, it was from the tragic accident that proved that there is such thing as too much horsepower. Nonetheless, the kid’s back out on the prowl and has committed to the Xtreme Drift Circuit (XDC) campaigning a black turbocharged Nissan 350Z.

The good news out of all this is that Nick Hogan will be involved with a group called “Keep It On The Track”, promoting and educating Americans the consequences of participating in illegal street races and driving without a seat belt. Perhaps it’s a day late, especially for the unfortunate passenger during Hogan’s Supra accident, but hey whatever it takes to keep it off the streets.

We couldn’t help but to include one of Hogan’s highlights from his last drifting endeavor, taking a champion-caliber car and finding the wall at Irwindale Speedway. That’s after the jump.
