Porsche’s head of powertrain development was taken into custody this week following a series of raids at the automaker’s various German facilities.

German prosecutors conducted a large-scale raid at a number of Porsche and Audi premises as part of its investigation into the illegal emissions software that was allegedly used in VW Group diesel engines.

Only two brands have been given the green light to sell diesel vehicles in the U.S. for the 2017 model year. 

Diesel is making a comeback in North America and there are more than a few cars out there outfitted with torquey, yet fuel efficient engines.

An interesting report has surfaced from the 33rd Vienna Motor Symposium that revealed Porsche has diesel powerplants firmly in its strategy, while electric vehicles are not.
