Volvo is giving its S60 and V60 Polestar models another production run.

The year was 1995 and I was on the cusp of getting my driver’s license. I fantasized all day about driving cars like the Mazda RX-7, Chevrolet Corvette, BMW 850i and Jaguar XJS V12. But then something completely different began to garner my affection, the Volvo 850 T-5R wagon.

Production of the new Volvo S60 and V60 Polestar models is under way in Sweden.

Volvo isn’t typically known for building sports cars, but that image is changing quickly with the aid of Polestar Performance,.

Volvo has finally pulled the trigger on bringing hopped-up Polestar versions of both the V60 wagon and S60 sedan to North America, as well as other worldwide markets including Japan and the U.K. 

Polestar is Volvo’s in-house tuning outfit that pumps excitement into the Swedish automaker’s vehicles, and a new teaser has revealed that Polestar has tuned up a new Volvo vehicle, though which one remains a mystery.

Starting early next year, Volvo will be selling its V60 model in North America and those hoping for more power from the Euro wagon can look forward to a hopped-up Polestar variant.
