Mercedes-Benz Expands Fuel Pump Recall

A total of 223,000 Mercedes-Benz models are now subject to a recall that began in June. In addition to the initial 143,000 vehicles recalled for fuel pump issues, Mercedes has just announced a recall of an additional 80,000 cars and SUVs.

Affected models were made within the last few years and are as follows: 2021-2024 C-Class, S-Class, E-Class Coupe, SL-Class Coupe, AMG GT, and G-Class SUVs (GLC, GLE, and GLS-Class) are all subject to recall. Mercedes’ recall documentation states certain fuel pump impeller don’t meet its material requirements, and as a result, these pumps may fail or expire prematurely. The failure of the fuel pump can have a myriad of consequences, from a vehicle not starting to loss of power while driving.

The remedy, predictably, is to have the fuel pump replaced. As it is a recall, dealers will be performing the repairs for owners of the above Mercedes free of charge. Owner notification begins February 13, 2024.
