The Last Dodge Challenger And Charger Have Been Made

Speaking to Road & Track, a source at Dodge confirmed that the last Challenger and Chargers were made on December 22, 2023. After almost 20 years in production, the V8-powered Challenger and Charger are at their end. R&T states the final Charger was a Destroyer Gray Scat Pack Widebody. With a 485 horsepower V8, the sedan broke necks because of its soundtrack and its brawny looks.

The last Challenger made was an all-black SRT Demon 170. The Demon 170 was a death knell for the Challenger. Its 6.2-liter V8 made four-figure horsepower on 170-proof ethanol (hence the name), and would easily rip a wheelie on the drag strip. The Challenger was many things, but the 170 was truly something special. What isn’t clear is where this car belongs. Back in June, the last Demon 170 allocation sold for $700k. Remember, the money spent was solely for the allocation, and the car hadn’t been built at that point. It isn’t known if this was the very last Challenger ever made. If it was, it certainly helps to justify the wild pricing.

The Challenger name will, at a minimum, carry on. Right now, it appears Stellantis’ Hurricane inline-six engine will take the place of the legendary V8, and an electrified version will also help to carry the muscle car torch in the coming years.
