Mazda Expands CarPlay, Android Auto Availability to 2014 and Newer Models
If you’re looking to upgrade your Mazda with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, or if the lack of that feature has steered you away from models without, then Mazda has some news you’ll be interested in. They’re offering the upgrade for more vehicles and they’re available now.
The infotainment systems launched this summer on late versions of the 2018 Mazda6. They also arrived in the CX-5 and CX-9 for the 2019 model year. Now the add-on is available for other Mazdas, direct from the dealer. The system changes let you use your compatible Apple and Android phones for mapping, audio, and other app functions.
The updates include both software and hardware changes. The computer is upgraded to the latest version of Mazda Connect, and the existing USB ports are swapped for a 2.1-amp version. That means not just extra connectivity, but also faster charging. The upgrade takes about two hours and has an MRSP of $199 plus the labor charge.

The upgrades are good for any Mazda that uses Mazda Connect. So if you look up in your Mazda and see a screen poking out of the dash, then look down and see a rotary knob with three buttons above it, then you’re probably covered.
More specifically, that means 2014 and up Mazda3, 2016 and up Mazda6, MX-5, CX-3, CX-5, and CX-9. It should be available at your dealer now, but there might be a bit of a rush.

I wish Toyota would do this. I'm frustrated that Toyota refuses to support Android Auto. So, far only a few 2019 models have Apple CarPlay. Toyota has not offered an update to it's infotainment system for 2018 and older models.
Thats great news. Now I'm more inclined to get a used Mazda 3 over older Civics or Corollas.
