After leaked photos hit the web this past weekend, BMW has released official images of the 2012 BMW M5 Concept.

Set to debut at the Shanghai Motor Show in just two weeks time, this concept car is a near visual match to the production model, with the gaping M front fascia, flared fenders, huge wheels and, of course, those trademark fenders. Out back there’s a revised diffuser with four exhaust pipes, plus a modest trunk-lid spoiler.

In a release BMW confirms the twin-turbo V8 engine, which BMW promises, “generates the power output required for outstanding performance.”

  • This is very subtle for an M5. I wonder if M5 owners don't want a bit more separation between the looks of their vehicle and the regular 5-series to add some prestige/status.
