Those owning a 2004-2007 Kia Spectra should look out for a recall notice in the near future if they originally purchased it or currently registered in Connecticut, Delaware, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Vermont, West Virginia, Wisconsin and District of Columbia.

The recall on the affected vehicles is for corrosion on the straps holding on the fuel tank due to road salt. If either strap separates, the fuel tank could fall from the vehicle and hit the ground, causing a fuel leak. In other words, not so good news for you or your car.

Dealers will swap out the fuel-tank straps and hardware with new zinc-coated parts at no charge.
