Already suspected to be in the works for 2013, Mercedes-Benz confirmed that it will replace the aging 3.0-liter V6 in its C300 4Matic sedan with a detuned version of the 3.5-liter direct-injected V6 already found in the more powerful C350.

While the version seen in the C350 makes 302 hp, Mercedes will tone the powerplant down by 54 hp for the C300 to keep 248 under the hood. Making that transition will be easy for the automaker because it already sells the same engine in its Canadian version of the E300 4Matic, which is already available at dealerships.

The C350 will also continue into 2013 when you can expect improved fuel milage out of both it and the C300 thanks to a standard stop-start system and eco button, though estimated fuel milage is still unavailable.
