Spy photos of an updated Sorento have been popping up lately and now Kia has revealed its updated mid-size crossover. Pictures didn’t reveal much that was new and even in production trim it’s obvious that the changes are mild, at least on the surface.

Powertrain details have yet to be released, however, Kia is promising, “enhanced powertrains for best-in-class fuel economy with lower emissions.” Helping achieve that goal is an all new chassis, with rumors suggesting the vehicle could way over 200 lbs less than the current car.

In addition, Kia is promising anew convenience and safety features, as well as an improved ride quality, with better handling and refinement.

The best selling Kia in America, expect to see engines similar to those in the new 2013 Hyundai Santa Fe with a 2.4-liter 4-cylinder making 190-hp and 181 lb-ft or torque, a 2.0-liter turbo making 264-hp and 269 lb-ft of torque plus a 3.3-liter V6 with 290-hp and 252 lb-ft of torque.
