Back in May, Monster Tajima debuted his new Monster Sport E-RUNNER Pikes Peak Special in its full carbon fiber glory. Now the famous Pikes Peak driver is set to conquer the famous Hill Climb once again.

Since 1988, Tajima has taken top honors at the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb an astonishing 11 times, and has won the event the last six years. The Monster Sport E-RUNNER EV has been finished off with a simple coat of white paint before getting plastered with sponsor logos. The E-RUNNER EV was built on an aluminum space frame, while the all-wheel drive will pilot on Falken Tires. A pair of electric motors are powered by a lithium-ion battery – but power output is unknown.

It will be rather interesting to see how the vehicle does in competition. But so far, the E-RUNNER EV has posted 4:14.786 and 4:13.343 during practice runs.

It could be argued that electric vehicles have a huge advantage out on Pikes Peak. The increased elevation doesn’t impact power output compared to conventional gasoline powered engines.
