Recently, the official Shelby facebook page teased the photo above, and reports surfaced of the next-generation Ford Focus RS. Put them together, and it looks like a new Focus RS could be on its way.

The teaser photo could also be of a Fiesta ST, but considering it is on Shelby’s facebook page, it will likely be something with a little more brawn than the small hot hatch.

Power is likely to come from a 2.3-litre four-cylinder EcoBoost engine, said to put out around 350 hp, making a 0-60 sprint possible in under five seconds. The existing 247 hp 2.0-litre EcoBoost has apparently been ruled out by the Ford engineers because increasing its power would mean making the turbo bigger, which would rid the engine of low-end torque.

A manual transmission will certainly be available, although Ford is debating whether or not to offer a DCT.

Best of all, if the brand sticks to its “One Ford” globalization strategy, the car will likely come to North American unlike the previous Focus RS.
