Mercedes announced today that it has delivered a new Popemobile, replacing the previous M-Class from 2002 with an all new 2013 M-Class.

This latest Pope-mover has gotten some upgrades, including a larger rear enclosure to allow the Pope to be seen better, and to make ingress and egress easier. An custom throne is also fitted into the back, embroidered with the Pope’s coat of arms.

The new Popemobile was delivered Friday, and will be used for the first time in Rome at a celebration at the Spanish Steps.

While the new Popemobile looks formidable, we can’t help but feel that its’s a shame that it’s not a ML63 AMG.
