Cadillac CTS Special Editions Spiff up Stale Sport Sedan

Galloping into the sunset, the Cadillac CTS is all but forgotten in its current generation — something GM hopes to change ever so slightly.

In typical fashion, Cadillac is offering special edition models of the current CTS in an effort to drum up last-minute sales before the new version arrives next year. Those packages will offer two matte paint colors: “Stealth Blue and Silver Frost.”

The package also includes a dark finish grille, Recaro racing seats and special wheels with brake calipers finished in yellow or red for the silver color or silver calipers for the blue paint.

Maintenance is one of the biggest downfalls to buying a car with matte paint, but GM says it has a solution.

“We’ve spent a significant amount of time developing these colors so that owners don’t have to deviate too much from their normal maintenance routines yet still have a distinct and dramatic finish to their performance vehicle,” GM lead creative designer for exterior paint Michelle Killen said.

Both special editions will be available in March as a limited production run. The Silver Frost version will be limited to the CTS-V Coupe for 100 units and comes with a suede wrapped steering wheel and shift knob. Meanwhile, the Stealth Blue will be available with a blue leather interior package in the CTS coupe and all CTS-V models.
