Volkswagen has confirmed that the 2015 Golf will make its US debut at the upcoming 2013 New York Auto Show in three flavors: en entry-level TSI model, a TDI Clean Diesel model and the sporty GTI.

All the new Golf variants made a splash at the 2013 Geneva Motor Show last week, and in New York, Americans will get their first opportunity to see what they’ll be receiving when the new Golf goes on sale in the first half of 2014.

In the TSI model, look for a 1.8-lier turbocharged 4-cylidner making 158 hp as the replacement of the brand’s 2.5-liter 5-cylinder. The GTI, on the other hand, will continue to use a turbocharged 2.0-liter 4-cylinder, though now rated at around 220 hp.

The seventh-generation Golf is bigger inside and out, more fuel efficient, and is safer than its predecessor. It is also the first vehicle from the German automaker to take advantage of its new MQB components matrix and will be packed with new safety features such as collision avoidance and lane departure systems.
