Porsche Macan Set for 2013 LA Auto Show Debut
According to reports, the Porsche Macan will make its production debut at the 2013 Los Angeles Auto Show and is scheduled for a spring 2014 release date.
Based on the same modular MLB platform that underpins the Audi Q5, the Macan will be lighter thanks to the use of aluminum – around 285 pounds lighter than the Q5. It will be available exclusively with four-wheel drive though the German automaker hasn’t spoken up on what engines will power the SUV.

What is likely for the Macan, however, are sportier S and Hybrid variants and it’ll likely have the choice of six-cylinder gasoline and diesel engines, with smaller and more fuel-efficient four-cylinders added later on in the model’s life cycle. A Porsche insider has confirmed to Auto Express that though it’s built on the same platform as the Q5, the Macan has its own engines, suspension tuning, and interior architecture.
The Macan will be produced at the automaker’s Leipzig, Germany plant and is reported to cost significantly less than the Cayenne. With the Cayenne starting at around $51,850, expect the Macan to be priced around $38,500, or slightly more than the Q5.
