Last week, Mercedes released some photos of its next sports car testing while heavily camouflaged, and now AutoGuide‘s spy photographers have captured new photos.

Though it’s being called the SLC for now, the German automaker has stressed that the production model won’t be referred to as the SLC to further differentiate it from the current SLS AMG model. Another rumor has it being called the GT, but either way, the new sports car is built to be a Porsche 911 competitor even though the prototype was benchmarked against the Nissan GT-R.

It is believed that it’ll be powered by a twin-turbo V8 engine with anywhere from 485 to 600 hp through its model lineup. For now, Mercedes claims that only a coupe version will be released, but you shouldn’t rule out a convertible if the coupe is successful.
