Mercedes-Benz has revealed some photos of its upcoming SLC AMG model, which will go on sale in North America in early 2015.

The photos, which come officially from Mercedes AMG, reveal a heavily camouflaged sports car that is clearly smaller than the existing SLS AMG. The car is being built to compete directly with the Porsche 911 in both price and performance. Currently, the SLC is in its first round of durability testing with the coupe model hitting the market first before the convertible variant arrives in 2016.

However, when the model goes into production and is officially revealed, it won’t be sporting the SLC moniker. The German automaker made it clear that the SLC does not share anything with the SL mechanically, and wants to ensure that it’s clearly positioned separately from the existing SLS sports car.

As for what will power the automaker’s newest two-seater, rumor has it that it’ll be the first to receive a new twin-turbo, 4.0-liter V8 engine that will have around 500 hp.
