The next-generation of BMW M models is currently undergoing track testing, as AutoGuide‘s spy photographers have caught both the new M3 sedan and M4 coupe in action.

Recently, BMW confirmed that the M4 will essentially be ready when it’s ready, stating that the car will have to be “as good as it can possibly be.” In other words, the German automaker isn’t rushing its development, though a concept is expected to debut at next month’s Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance in California.

Both the M3 and M4 is expected to share powerplants and both of the models will be going on a strict diet compared to the standard 3 Series and 4 Series models. It is likely that both the M3 and M4 will feature a turbocharged, six-cylinder engine under the hood.
