As long as the hatch with auto trans (some of us dont want a stick) 18 inch wheels and 184hp engine is priced right (say less than a civic si) and preserves the 3's historically good handling, this will steal tons of buyers away from the GTI, BRZ/FRS, focus st, fiesta st, forte 5 door sx, and civic si. It could become THE affordable hot hatch to own in terms of price, looks, performance & reliability. Each of those cars shines on its own way. The only one I could see trumping it us if Honda offered an automatic si. But it would still need premium gas and not get the fuel economy the new 3 will get on regular gas. Now, if only Subaru would stick a more powerful engine in the Impreza slotted below the WRX.
