Before the new 2014 MINI makes its American debut at the LA Auto Show, the iconic British car will first be revealed at the brand’s Plant Oxford on November 18, 2013 at a special event.

That date marks the 107th birthday of a man named Sir Alec Issigonis, the designer who is credited with giving the original MINI its style and substance. The plant will host the world premiere, followed by a party in London on the same evening. Just two days later, the new 2014 MINI will make its way to both the Japan and LA Auto Shows, where it will be shown off again.

The 2014 MINI Cooper is slightly larger than the current car with the front end’s overhang noticeably larger. The front windshield is further raked back for a sleeker design and the LED daytime running lights now form a ring that encircles almost the entire headlight.

Base 2014 MINI Coopers are rumored to have between 120 and 200 hp delivered from a three-cylinder engine, but don’t be surprised if JCW variants pump out closer to 300 hp.
