The Audi Q3 was supposed to arrive Stateside this year, but that plan is now on hold.

Its approach angle prevents the small Audi utility vehicle from being classified in the U.S. as a light truck. Now, the company is delaying its American sales plan for another one or two years according to a report from Car and Driver.

The vehicle will be sold as both the normal Q3 and performance-tuned RS Q3 as well. In its RS performance form, it will use the same turbocharged five-cylinder engine as Audi’s TT RS, which is good for at least 310 hp.

Expect a 2.0-liter turbocharged four pot in the less exciting sibling.

What a joke! Audi has badly mishandled the Q3 launch in the US. A real missed opportunity. Somebody should be fired...
