Hyundai is considering adding a third luxury model and a new compact crossover to its lineup.

According to new Hyundai Motor America CEO David Zuchowski, the Korean automaker believes “it’s fair to say that within a couple of years there may be another premium” model added to Hyundai’s lineup. Rumor has it that Hyundai could be working on a luxury sedan to compete with the BMW 3 Series, but Zuchowski declined to comment on it.

The company is also studying the prospects of a compact crossover such as the Kia Soul and Nissan Juke, a segment that Hyundai currently has no presence in. Most importantly however, the Korean automaker remains cautious to ensure entering niche markets won’t cannibalize sales of existing models.

“You’ve got to grow your volume by growing in segments where you aren’t right now,” said Zuchowski. “That’s what our focus is down the road.”
